The Bible ... London: Robert Barker, 1615. Quarto. Old reversed paneled calf binding, front board detached; spine defective. Lacks all before Kk2 beginning with the Song of Solomon 6:6. Lacking all before Isaiah. with a few minor defects, and apart from lacking a leaf of the Gospel of John, a good copy of the Prophets and New Testament, with Apocrypha.
Kk7 with dark stain to outer column; Ll5 two dark ink spots; Oo3 small hole to inner column with loss of several letters recto. Rr6 closed tear to bottom of outer corner; Yy6 repaired verso at inner edge; Yy8 tear at top edge with loss to headline; Bbb3 small dark ink spot; Ooo4 recto small ink stain; lacks Ppp3 (John 7:52-9:22a); Sss2 small stain obscures several words of notes in outer column; Sss4 bottom corner cut away with loss of notes recto; Sss6 Stain to inner column obscuring several words of text on each of three lines; Uuu3 small hole to inner column with loss of a word of text recto and verso. Several inscriptions (Tt4, Yy6) and notes in an old hand on blank leaf before New Testament Title, as well as notes in a later hand inside front and rear boards detailing condition and edition.
Herbert 340, the first of two varieties printed in 1615, apparently the last black letter quarto edition of the Geneva Bible.
