1615 Geneva Bible (Quarto) with Alabama Connection
The Bible ... London: Robert Barker, 1615. 4to. c. 19th century paneled calf, marbled edges and end papers. Lacks O7 (1 Samuel 9:18-12:6a). Ownership inscription reading, "R.J. Miller Covington KY 1886 Bought in Montgomery Ala. 1881" on blank leaf at front, as well as much earlier inscription in the Genealogies, after the General title, last leaf of the Apocrypha reading "Thomas Basnott His Book 1678" with birth records on verso.
Herbert 340, the first of two varieties printed in 1615, apparently the last black letter quarto edition of the Geneva Bible. BOUND WITH The Genealogies.. J.S. no date WITH Two right profitable and fruitful Concordances ... London: Robert Barker, 1615 AND The Whole Book of Psalmes. London: Company of Stationers, 1616. Many top edges cropped. F1 repaired at inner edge, just touching verse numbers; F8 repaired verso with no loss; G1 repaired at inner edge with some loss; G3 repaired at inner edge with no loss AND bound after G4. Lacks G7-8 (all after a prayer for the whole estate of Christ's Church).
